  3. EDGE THICKNESS MINUS LENTICULAR DESIGN

  5. With high minus lenses the edges 
  6. become too thick and uncomfortable.  
  7. In this case a second curve is cut in 
  8. the periphery on the front surface of 
  9. the lens to thin the edge.  This is 
  10. called a minus lenticular lens.

  12. For hydrogel lenses, due to their large diameter, this is necessary for low minus lenses.  For RGP lenses over about -5.00 D to -6.00 D a lenticular cut is needed.
